經 is composed of the BuShou of 糸 (silk) and 巠 (vertical threads in weaving). 糸 depicts a coil of silk, while 巠 is the picture of a loom and the vertical threads in weaving, so 經 means the vertical line. On the other hand, since a shuttle will go back and forth during weaving, 經 also has the meaning of undergoing and through.
