The story of 筒

tube, cylinder

is composed of the BuShou of 竹(bamboo) and 同(same, similar), 同 depicts a bamboo stem which one end is holed, but 同 has other meanings, so 竹 is added to make 筒 to represent the meaning of tube and cylinder.
