The story of 晝

daytime

晝 is composed of 聿 and 日(the sun) with one stroke underneath. 聿 depicts a hand holding a pen, which has the meaning of dividing or delimitation, daytime is after sunrise, while nighttime is after sunset, the sun divide daytime and nighttime. On the other hand, a stroke is added underneath for fear that it may be mixed up with 書.
