The story of 憂

憂 is composed of 頁(the picture of head), 心(heart) and the variant of 又. Sorrow is a state of mind, ancient Chinese think that state of mind is dominated by (will affect)head and heart. 又 is a phonetic symbol only, which is same as 止 in 齒, points out the pronunciation, without any meaning.
