The story of 坳

concave, depression

拗 is composed of the BuShou of 土 (earth) and 幼 (young, small). 幼 depicts a hand drawing the thread (silk) from the coil, a thread is thin and small which is easy to be twisted by hand. So 坳 is used to represent the depression (twist) of the ground.
