妄 is composed of 亡(death, escape, to lose) and 女(woman). 亡 depicts a man hiding in the corner which formed by two walls, means escape .Woman have not stayed at home but ran away, in ancient Chinese tradition, such behaviour will be seen as absurd and self-indulgent.
