segment, section

段 is composed of the variant of 石(stone, rock) and 殳(An ancient Chinese weapon named Shu), 殳 is the picture of a hand holding a hammer, so 段 depicts a rock being hammered, but such meaning has been replaced by 碫 and 鍛, now 段 means segment or section.
