阡
The story of 阡
road
阡 is composed of the BuShou of 阜(mound) and 千(thousand, the picture of someone transplanting the rice seedlings). Since the seedlings are transplanted in rows, the green lines are straight like footpaths, and such footpaths are piled by mud as mound, so 阡 means the footpaths between fields, running north and south.
