The story of 判

judge

判 is composed of半(half) and the BuShou of刀(knife). Since a knife is so sharp that can cut and divide something accurately, also, half is the fairest portion to each other, so判 means ‘justice’ . Accuracy and fairness, both of them are important elements of justice.
