The story of 凡

ordinary

凡 is the picture of a tray or a bucket, the original tray or bucket is made of hollow bamboo. Compare with the other ancient bronze vessels, there is no decoration or ornament on tray or bucket, the appearance is ordinary. On the other hand, both 凡 and 同 come from the same origin, now those two Hanzi have similar shapes, pronunciations and meanings.
